After leaving The Tonight Show on NBC, Conan brought his late night brand of comedy to TBS. We were lucky to get a shot at producing the campaign that brought Conan back to late night, but it was nerve wracking knowing that we were writing for a comedy genius.
The launch of his show was the biggest initiative in the history of the network, with agencies around the country competing for the account. As fans of the man and the show, we tapped into Conan’s outsider humor, putting his unique brand of comedy and looks on everything from billboards to blimps. The TV campaign married existing brand iconography and focused messaging served up through art cards to inform, entertain and inspire television viewership. Our work on this project earned us a seat at the table with Turner as a creative partner helping develop Conan’s brand on air and online… often getting sign-off from the man himself.
